KENINGAU: Drug related crimes in the district for 2015 has increased to 595 cases, compared to 506 cases recorded in 2014.
District Police Chief, DSP Douglas Nyeging Taong, said the increase include three cases under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act (ADB) 1952, as compared to one case under the same section in 2014.
Rape cases also increased to 20, compared to 15 cases in 2014, he added.
Douglas was speaking during a press conference at the district IPD media room, in Tuesday.
Statistic for various crimes under the supervision of Keningau IPD also shows that Keningau have the highest index with 111 cases, followed by Tambunan (19 cases), Sook (10 cases), and Nabawan (3 cases).
Compared to 145 cases in 2014 for Category B crime index for January to December, the year 2015 has shown a decrease of 1.37 percent, where only 143 cases were reported.
Douglas said from the 142 cases, 73 of them have been solved by the department, thus achieving its Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of 51.40 percent for 2015.
For 2014, about 162 cases were reported and 70 cases were solved with 43.20 percent of cases solved. -SayangSabah
