KUALA LUMPUR:  A body, believed to be of a foreign women and among two women who went missing and feared drowned in Sungai Klang,
Brickfields here, late evening yesterday was found around noon today.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department Operations Director Azizan Ismail said the body was found at around 12.30pm, in the river adjacent to the former Brickfields police station, at Jalan Tun Sambathan here.

Azizan told Bernama that the body was handed over to the police and that the search and rescue operation which resumed at 9am today from yesterday, would continue until further notice.

“We are now looking for the other woman. Up to when the operation will continue will have to depend on today’s development and discussion with the police,” he said.

He said about 22 fire and rescue department personnels from the Water Rescue Team as well as Hang Tuah and Pantai stations were involved in today’s operation.

In the 7pm incident yesterday, the two missing women were among a group of five women who were purportedly chased by a man on a motorcycle while they were sightseeing, resulting in four of them jumping into the river, while another one ran along the river bank shouting for help.

Two of them were swept away by swift currents, while another two were rescued by the public. The three women who were safe were then taken to the Brickfields District Police Headquarters to have their statements recorded.- BERNAMA
