BINTULU: An Indonesian lorry driver died while his countryman escaped death in an accident at KM76 Jalan Sibu here last night.
Tatau fire and rescue station chief Azrel Izaidi Ahmad said the deceased identified as Ismail Syavie, 41, died after the three-tonne lorry he was driving rammed into a tanker truck at 6 pm yesterday.
“Firemen took two hours to extricate the victim from the lorry which was laden with oil palm fruit bunches,” he told Bernama today.
He said another Indonesian identified only as Makmun, 32, who was also driving a lorry laden with oil palm fruit bunches at the time, escaped unhurt.
The driver of the tanker truck could not be located after the incident,” said Azrel Izaidi.- BERNAMA
