TAMPARULI: Tamparuli Division PBS Youth Movement for Blood Donation Campaign launched yesterday at Dewan Tun Hamdan, had successfully obtained 28 pints of blood from donors around Tamparuli, Kiulu, and Tuaran.
Tamparuli PBS Youth Chief, Romeo Sindeh, said the programme is to help Likas Hospital to replenish its blood bank to alleviate shortages due to increasing number of patients.
“We understand that the availability of blood supply is important during treatment and hospitals’ blood banks around the country are vital in saving the lives of patients who are undergoing organ transplant, heart surgery, mothers giving birth, and blood loss due to injuries.
“Blood banks in the country are to gather, filter, process, and supply blood to hospitals, and the duty of the public is to become donor,” he said when met at the programme.
Also present was Tamparuli Division PBS Chief, Datuk Jahid Jahim. He opined that the public needs to be aware of their responsibility to donate blood and help patients who need blood transfusion.
In this regard, he said Tamparuli Division PBS Youth wants to help hospitals to replenish its blood bank, and reduce the burden of patients who are in need.
The programme is the third health-based campaign organized by Tamparuli Division PBS Youth, he added. -SayangSabah
