TAMBUNAN: District Council Members are reminded to carry their responsibilities and duties dilligently for the development of their district and communities.
Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, said, as a council member they have to be more responsible and committed in their duties if they are to be respected.
“I hope the commitments and sense of responsibility are born from within themselves because as a District Council Member they are respected by the communities they represent,” he said in his speech for the swearing-in of the 17 Tambunan District Council Members for 2015-2016, today.
He said, they need to add more serious development plannings, since the district has been developing and attracting tourists from within and outside the country.
Pairin who is also the state Minister of Infrastructure Development and Keningau Member of Parliament, said the tourism industries in Sabah is the catalyst of the state economic growth, including Tambunan.
The tourism sector must be prioritis
ed for it can boost other sectors such as agriculture and manufacturing; contributing to the state income, he said.
Pairin also calls for the council members to prioritise sanitation and landscape aspect in villages and town area, as the district is a tourist attraction especially during the state level Kaamatan Festival on May 1. – SayangSabah
