KOTA KINABALU: “To dissolve the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) is not within my jurisdiction; my responsibility is to complete and present suggestions from all parties, including the opposition,” said the Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Joseph Pairin Kitingan, during the press conference for the presentation of AFFIN Holdings Berhad school equipment assistance at Promenade Hotel, this morning.
“Dissolving the RCI is not an issue, but what matters most is that we work together to solve the problem,” he said.
Pairin also urged the public to take part in the effort to solve the issue by giving relevant opinions and comments which will be considered as a platform for solution-finding.
He also warned members of society not to be in cahoot with illegal immigrants by protecting them from the authority.
“PTI problem is a complex case since there are some locals who keep and employ them secretly, they are not helping in reporting about this issue,” he said.
Those who are found protecting illegals are at risk of facing imprisonment, or a fine up to RM50,000.
When asked about when the RCI report to be completed, he said it is yet to be confirmed since it is a complex issue and requires a detailed study. –SayangSabah
