KOTA KINABALU – The public will have to wait until early February to get their MyKad as the issuance of MyKad at 43 branches of the National Registration Department (NRD) nationwide will experience a disruption due to the upgrading work on the Identity Card System from Jan 9 to 25.
According to a statement by the NRD director-general Datuk Sulaiman Keling yesterday, the disruption would also cause the duration between the application and the issuance of MyKad at those branches to be extended to 10 working days from the current 24 hours.
In Sabah the disruption including at Kota Kinabalu UTC, Kota Kinabalu Jalan UMS, Tawau, Sandakan and Keningau.
“Public can still apply for MyKad but we will issue it ten days after the upgrading of the Identity Card System,” the personnel of NRD in Kota Kinabalu UTC branch told SayangSabah reporter, today.
Among the NRD branches affected are in Perlis, Alor Setar, Kedah UTC,Kulim, Penang, Ipoh, Perak UTC, Bagan Datoh and Sri Manjong, Shah Alam, Klang and Petaling Jaya, Selangor,Kuala Lumpur UTC, Keramat UTC and Sentul Mini UTC in Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Seremban, Johor Bahru UTC, Kluang and Batu Pahat in Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan;Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Sri Aman in Sarawak.
