BEAUFORT: Responsible parties are urged to ensure the lands for agriculture in the district are not intruded and its status being changed by any individuals or groups for development projects, as they need to follow the regulated assessment tax rate.

Kawang State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Ghulam Haidar Khan Bahadar, said any parties or developers will need to prepare a Development Plan (DP) which need to be submitted to the local authority for approval before their projects can begin.

Any changes in zoning area will need to be considered based on its impact to other sectors, especially paddy planting because the infrastructure facilities such as irrigation networks for this agro-product is very sensitive.

We are not against any kind of development, but it needs to be checked so there are no damages to the agriculture lands for paddy planting, which is the district’s main agriculture products

“I will continue to monitor the situation and hopes for MDP and other related agencies to ensure these lands (agriculture) are not disturbed or its status changed unsystematically,” he said in his speech for officiating Pengalat Kecil Zone Farming and Harvesting Day at Dewan Kg. Pengalat Kecil. – SayangSabah
