KOTA KINABALU: Business owners in Sabah should reduce prices of goods on par with the decrease of oil price.
Sabah Entrepreneurial and Industrial Association (PKPS) President, Dato’ said, goods in Sabah are more expensive compared to the Peninsular, including electricity and other services.
According to him, the low income and impoverished communities in Sabah were burdened by the price increase and as such they should be relieved with the decrease in oil price.
“Personally I support the statement made by the Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in calling the consumers to boycott traders who are unwilling to reduce prices,” he said here, yesterday.
Mohd. Fadli said, the Chinese community must not perceive his (Ismail) statement as racist because he was referring to all business owners.
“But incidentally the majority of business owners are Chinese, so they are offended by the statement. I’m sure that Ismail Sabri made the statement with good intentions, to remind traders who refuse to decrease prices; not to incite racial issues,” he said.
What the people of Sabah want are reasonable traders who lower their prices accordingly with the reduction of oil cost. – SayangSabah
