KOTA KINABALU: The mystery of a missing Perodua Viva since 23 March was solved when it was found at the roadside in Bukit Kokol, Menggatal, with a dead body.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said the corpse was found by a villager around 5.00pm yesterday, when he checked the vehicle out of curiosity, which was parked at the location for two days with its engine still running.
The witness who checked the car then saw a man’s body lying unconsciously at the front seat. He immediately called the police,” he said in his statement, here today.
He said, initial police investigation at the scene has found the victim, identified as Luis bin Gitom, aged 45, from Ranau, died without any criminal element.
“There are no wounds or injuries on the victim’s body. all of the victim’s valuables including wallet and mobile phone were still inside the car,” he said, adding the case has been classified as sudden death.
The victim’s body has been sent to the hospital for autopsy.
