KOTA KINABALU: A fisherman was shocked when he found a male corpse floating at the coast of Sepanggar Island, near here, at 8.20am today.
District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra, said a team of police from Gaya Island Police Station had been sent to the scene after receiving information from the fisherman.
“The back of the victim’s head is also peeled off, exposing the skull, and it is believed the skin was eaten by fish,” he said, adding that the cause of death is still under investigation.
The police has identified the victim as Duni Bin Adam 34, with his last address at Taman Wangsa Telipok.
The case has been classified as a sudden death, and the victim’s body is now at Queen 1 Hospital for autopsy.
“Initial investigation by the police has found no inflicted injuries on the corpse’s body,” he said, here today.
He said, the victims had been deceased for four days, and a large portion of the skin was peeling off due to the salt water exposure.-Sayangsabah
