KOTA KINABALU: Former ESSCOM Comander, Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun, has been appointed as the new Sabah Police Commissioner.
He replaced Datuk Jalaludin Abdul Rahman, who has been prmoted as the new Director for the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department in 1 January ago.
He said the duty of a police commissioner is not easy, but with the cooperation of all sides he is confident to fulfil his responsibility.
“The police will continue to have a close tie with ESSCOM and I will keep the legacy left by Datuk Jalaluddin, and make improvement where it is necessary,” he said.
When asked about the curfew order in ESSCOM area, he said the order will be continued since it is an effective approach in ensuring safety and reduce crime rates.
“Despite in the beginning some residents did not agree with the curfew, after some explanation the community began to give a positive reaction,” he said.
The transfer of duty between Jalaludin and Rashid was witnessed by Bukit Aman Administration Director, Datuk Zulkifli Abdulah, at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters. -SayangSabah
