Cultivate sports competitiveness from early age

TAWAU: Students with potentials in sports need to be identified and trained at young age to produce competitive athletes.

Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Datuk Hamisa Samat, said preparation is important in producing competitive athletes for the higher-level sports events.

We cannot hope for victory in international level (sports) if we do not have early training,” she said in his speech for officiating MSSZK 28th Track and Field Championship in Tawau Sports Complex, here today.

According to Hamisa, the government prioritize sports development in all level, especially in school level to cultivate healthy sportsmanship and excellent sports performances among the young generation.

The focus is not only to produce high quality athlete to raise the state’s image, but also to mould the young generation as a motivated and skilled individuals, being the country’s future leaders, she added. – SayangSabah
