TENOM: A woman died when the vehicle she was travelling in crashed and plunged into a drain here last night.
The accident occurred at Kilometer 7, Jalan Lagud Seberang near Kg. Makatabau, around 6.30pm according to District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Mohamad Firdaus Abdulah.
He said, the victim identified as Ramia Yandua, 51, from Kg. Tomani, Kemabong was pronounced dead at Tenom Hospital while her husband, Bacdol @ Paidol Bulonsor, 52, received light injuries.
“The victim is believed to have drowned after the four-wheel-drive driven by her husband from Tenom Town direction suddenly lost control, crashed to the right sideway of the opposite direction, spun and plunged into the drain,” he told reporters.
Mohamad Firdaus said, the couple was on their way to the husband’s hometown at Kg. Pogukon, near here.
Investigation at the scene founds that the paved road is dry, curved to the right from Tenom Town, with sideways at both sides but no streetlights, and the weather is in good condition.
According to him, the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987. – SayangSabah
