SEMPORNA: Some 39 cooperatives with 9,266 registered members in Semporna parliamentary area have recorded a collective revenue of almost up to RM2 million.
Semporna Cooperative Consultation Council Chairperson, Dato’ Hisham Abd. Fattah, said these cooperatives have a share value of RM56,170 and RM10.7 million in assets.
“I believe the number of highly competitive cooperatives will increase in the district and attract the public to get involved with the sector,” he said during the Semporna parliamentary level Cooperative Awareness programme at the district Library Hall.
He added that in Senallang DUN there are 19 active cooperatives, with Bugaya and Sulabayan DUN have 10 cooperatives respectively.
Public involvement with cooperatives will help in improving their condition of living through business activities, he said. -SayangSabah
