KOTA KINABALU: Construction contractors are urged not to lend their licenses to second party to prevent them from being blacklisted by the government due to the inability of the license borrower to complete projects according to the required standard.
Construction contractors in the state need to utilize their contractor license effectively by doing their own projects.
Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Datuk Hamisa Samat, said the practice of lending contractor license to second party should not happen as it (license) is a personal rights.
“As a contractor, they have to do the projects themselves. Sometimes there also some individuals who use the license do not follow the required standards and the consequences will fall on the original license holder,” she said in her speech for the closing ceremony of Piping Works Course at Kota Kinabalu, here today.
At the same time Hamisa wants contractors especially from Bumiputera communities to improve their work performance and apply all necessary knowledge to become competitive and on par with other contractors in the mainstream business.
There are 68 contractors across the state who attended the 3-days course, and they are confident that they will benefit from the programme for their projects. – SayangSabah
