Contests for Liawan PBS posts

TENOM: Seventeen candidates will be contesting for the posts in Liawan PBS during the division annual grand meeting that is expected to be initiated by PBS President cum the state Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, in August.

37 branches for Liawan division has also completed their meetings and post candidatures in their respective branch level.

For Liawan PBS chief, Datuk Jake Nointien received 21 nominations, while his opponent Augustine Nain received 16 nominations.

The division PBS deputy chief post is contested by Obren Sulom with the supports of 19 nominations, and Zackary Kinsik with 16 nominations.

PBS Vice President, Datuk Radin Malleh, as the meeting coordinator for Liawan branch divisions told the media after chairing the nomination counting process for Liawan PBS posts at Melalap PBS headquarters in Tenom, last Wednesday.

For the vice chief post, Romanus Micheal with 20 nominations will go against Peter Ingga with 15 nominations, while the second vice chief post will be contested by Micheal Asang Gaikun (21) and Jonis Diansun (16), he said.

Others who are contesting for Liawan committee posts are Paula Joseph (37), Johnny Gunbaris (310, Saleh Bakah (22), Anthony Wong (20), Rilik Pengaut (19), Jaffry Sahri (14), Joannes Leong (10), Malik Angkawang (8), and Kasmon Sanakoh (6).

Also present at the counting procedure were Marcellus Roman, PBS Headquarters Executive Secretary, Melalap PBS Secretary cum Melalap Community Development Leader, Simon Mamat, Melalap PBS Women Chief, Rosnah Ullap, Inanam PBS Chief cum Inanam Community Development Leader, Fredolin Totin Bangon, and Liawan division representatives.

He reminded the candidates to follow the party constitution and regulations set by the party leadership in order to ensure the annual grand meeting to progress smoothly.

“A meeting that is handled smoothly will preserve the image and credibility of the party in the eye of the public because PBS is part of the main component party in the Barisan Nasional (BN) government in the state,” he said.

“I hope for all candidates and PBS members in Liawan to stand united after the meeting and election are completed.

“Unity among Liawan PBS members is important to give strength to the party and ensure the success of BN and PBS in the next general election,” he added. -SayangSabah
