KENINGAU: Community leaders need to be fair in every matters and become an example for the surrounding communities.
Assistant Minister for the Chief Minister, Datuk Ellron Angin, said he has received several complaints about village chiefs encouraging squabbles among the villagers.
According to him, the complaints are surprising and shaming the title of village chiefs, as it should not be happening because as an elected leader they are responsible to look after their villages and just in solving any problems that arise among the residents,
“Village chief is a role model for the community and a middleman in solving issues among the villagers, but the complaints I received did not show the quality of a leader, and the trust that comes with the title has been breached.
“We are looking into this matter seriously, and will take necessary actions,” he said in his speech for the Community Roadshow Programme, organized by Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) at Dewan Kg. Biah Tengah, here yesterday.
Ellron said, community leaders need to be prepared in helping and cooperating with police authority in maintaining public order. – SayangSabah
