NABAWAN: Grassroot community leaders including religious leaders should play their role in presenting government policies and explaining to the public about current issues.
Sabah Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Development, Datuk Bobbey A. Suan, said leaders of the grassroot community should be give thorough explanation to the people about current issues that are happening in the country, such as the slump in economy, devaluation of currency, price hikes, and many more.
National issues that affect the state are not isolated to Malaysia alone since they are globalized issues that are also felt by other countries.
“Community leaders in the grassroot level such as the native chiefs and their deputies, village chiefs, JKKK committees, and other leadership level in villages should uphold their responsibility in explaining to the people about the real situation,” he said to local community leaders during an event held at the district Multipurpose Hall, in Thursday.
The Nabawan Assemblyperson also said community leaders should defend government policies by ensuring the public to understand the system applied by government for their implementation of development programmes. –SayangSabah
