KOTA KINABALU – A scholarship has been awarded to the Harvest Festival Beauty pageant Competition winner since 1999.
The winner was schooled not only in their chosen field in the college but also to promote the culture of Sabah, chief executive of Asian Tourism International (ATI) College Datuk Seri Panglima Wong Khen Thau said today.
Speaking to reporters during the signing ceremony between ATI College and Unduk Ngadau 2014, Cheryl Lyn Pinsius, today, he said the Unduk Ngadau represents Sabahan culture and this beautiful heritage that must be perpetuated.
He said Unduk Ngadau is a role model to youth and they should act accordingly while disseminating awareness on the importance of cultural and traditional norms to youth out there.
“We are giving a scholarship of over RM 20 000 to the Unduk Ngadau state winner to pursue their study in ATI as they are symbols of Sabah’s beautiful culture,” he said, adding that the heritage must be persevere for the next generation.
He said ATI College has been awarding scholarships to the state winner of Unduk Ngadau since the start of business operation.
Some of the Unduk Ngadau who have accepted the scholarship are Kathie Renjus (1999), Regina Intang(2000), Nicolita Sanseh(2001), Patricia Raymond (2002), Appey Rowena Januin (2009), April Lasius an Unduk Ngadau of Kepayan(2009), Crystal Mojimbun (2010), Botiza Arthur Dimison (2011) and Immaculate Lojuki (2013).- By Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
