KOTA KINABALU – The beach cleanup at Likas Bay saw participation from 40 City Hall staff today.
The event which was focused on collecting rubbish at Likas Bay beach was joined in by crews and members of the USS Navy.
City Hall Operation Deputy Director General Joannes Solidau said that the
USS Navy had delivered them a letter to the affect a week before the community work was organised.
He also mentioned the community service was carried out successfully where they collected 25 bags of garbage.
“We appreciate the USS Navy for volunteering to pick up the litter on this beach. They did a great job and our beach looks cleaner than before. I also want to thank DBBK staff for their willingness to join the community service, today,” Joannes said.
He said the beach is always strewn with rubbish during rainy days due to waste that washed down the river.
He urged the residents to be more responsible, not to throw rubbish indiscriminately and take great care of the beach’s environment. – By Saila Saidie/Sayangsabah
