KOTA KINABALU: The fourth edition of Christmas Fiesta made UMS as a role model for other universities in Malaysia to celebrate unity.
Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Datuk Seri Panglima Wilfred Madius Tangau, was speaking during officiating the UMS Christmas Fiesta at Glory Christrian Centre, Jalan Damai.
“I hope that this event will become part of UMS’ culture and seen by others, where UMS has its uniqueness by giving students the opportunity to experience the festive seasons celebrated in the country,” he said.
He also hopes for the Christmas Fiesta next year to be held inside the campus ground as it was done during its 3rd series, and urged for the organizers to do early preparation as to avoid any difficulty.
As Malaysians, Madius said negative perception against other faiths should be cast aside in order for understanding and cooperation to flourish and strenghten the unity enjoyed in this country.
“Politicizing religious issues will not lead to solution, but if tolerance is being practiced, the problem can be solved,” he added.
This year’s Christmas Fiesta was attended by 3,000 visitors who were entertained with various performances during the event. -SayangSabah
