RANAU: About 1,000 Christians from various denominations across Sabah gathered together at Sabah Parks Hall to join the Kinabalu Prayer Gathering to pray for the harmony and wellbeing of the state.
Sabah Churches Council (SCC) President, Reverend Datuk Jerry Dusing, said the prayer gathering is to pray for blessings and protection besides from to pray for the vicims’ families who are affected by the earthquake that Sabah in June.
“The gathering is the churches’ initiatives to commemorate the victims and ask for God to give peace for the victims’ families,” he said during the event.
According to him, the programme is also to express their gratitude for all the helps given to the affected victims.
“Fast actions by the public to help the victims are something to be proud of,” he added.
He explained the earthquake that hit the state is new for Sabah and it has cause difficulties for the local residents around Mount Kinabalu.
He also said Christians need to rise up and unite in helping the victims who need supports regardless of their race and religions to reduce their burden.
The prayer gathering is also supported by more than 40 pastors and priests from various church denominations in Sabah, as well as the participation of church leaders from Sarawak, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore who are present at the gathering to pray.
Also attending the event were the Mayor of Kota Kinabalu, Datuk Abidin Madingkir, and Sabah Museum Director, Joanna Kitingan.
The event was co-organized by Sabah Church Council, Sabah Pastors Organization, COSA, and with the collaboration of Sabah Parks. -SayangSabah
