KOTA KINABALU: A Chinese national pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate Court today for the charge of possessing counterfeit money.
The Magistrate, Jessica Ombou Kakayun, set 2 and 3 February for the case mention for Kwok Siu Kwan, 35, for the charge of keeping 40 notes of RM1,000 with the intent of using them as real money at the regional office of Bank Negara Malaysia, here, at 3.20pm, in 12 November.
The accused can be punished under Section 489 C of the Penal Code with up to ten years jail if found guilty.
Kwok, who was represented by his lawyer, Ram Singh, was previously brought to trial in front of Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, and has been granted bail of RM6,000 by two local bailors.
