KOTA KINABALU – Tourism in Sabah has not been too encouraging lately due to several mishaps and negative incidents.
Although tourism is one of the state’s most important income-generating sectors the industry had faced “alarming” stages with the various unwanted incidents.
However, even with the tragic incident in Lahad Datu, kidnapping cases reported in the media and the Malaysia Airlines incidents as other criminal activities such as shootings and smuggling; the industry would pick itself up slowly but surely.
This signs of recovery and ongoing growth might well be seen through the growing number of accommodations at various level in the State. In Kota Kinabalu alone, there are several new hotels opening and this could be seen as a new light for the tourism industry in Sabah.
One of the new hotel in town is the Chaya Hotel Tanjung Aru , with comfortable accomodations on offer for their guests.
When speaking to SayangSabah, its Director Tan Serri said that she is confident that the tourism industry in Sabah would be able pull in tourists again.
“I hope that the Year of the Goat will bring hope and a feeling of a new beginnings,” she said during a Chinese New Year event held at their premises today.
Concurring that the hotel was affected with the aforementioned incidents, she however added that it was a tough year but they would bounce back with clienteles from the domestic and walk in guests.
Chaya Hotel is known for its ideal location and panoramic view of the golden sunset of Tanjung Aru Beach.
