Charity run in celebration of the 56th Harvest Festival

KOTA KINABALU – The inaugural Tambunan Kaamatan Charity 11 km Run 2015 was launched by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan here, today.

Pairin who is also the Minister of Infrastructure Development Sabah said the charity run will be held on the April 25, in Tambunan.

“The event will promote Tambunan as the next tourists preferred destination while fostering unity among the community through health and wellness events,” he said.

He said the run in conjunction with the launching of the State Level Kaamatan Celebration will flag off at the Pisompuruan Square Tamu Ground in Tambunan.

“There will be six categories in the charity run including Men Open, Women Open, Veteran Men Open, Veteran, Women Open, Boys Open and Girls Open.”

Other activities held at the Square will be local traditional sports competitions, story telling contest in Kadazandusun at school level and Tug of War among the local community and visitors.

The registration fee for the run is RM50 and RM40 for students. Registration will close on April 6. Cash prizes worth RM5,200 await winners.

All proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Home at Bondulu Toboh in Tambunan. The home is for orphans or children from the hard core poor and broken families.
