KOTA KINABALU- A foreigner sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by Session Court here today on the offense of causing severe injury to a man using a machete.
Judge Azreena Aziz also ordered the accused to charge with five strokes.
The accused, Nulhan Kalatuan, 39, committed the offense in Kg. Lok Bunu, Sepangar at 9am on the 22nd of January.
Nulhan was sentenced under Section 326 Penal Code that could carry up to 20 years in jail and fine as well as whipping if found guilty.
Based on the case fact, in the same day, a police report was launched stated that the victim was chopped by the accused.
Durin the incident, no one was helping the victim. Further investigation found that the accused attacked the victim for suspecting the victim to have an affair with his wife.
In the mitigation, Nulhan appeal to the court for a lenient sentenced towards him for having a family obligation.
However, the prosecutors appealed to the court for an accordingly punishment to the accused.
He said according to the doctor, the victim suffer permanent defective on the face whereas the brow bone and cheekbones are fractured, protruding eyes and broken salivary glands.
