KUALA LUMPUR:  Although canoeing sports is considered to be low-key, it is receiving more interest from youths in country.

Kuala Lumpur Canoe Sports Association president Raja Sharul Azremel said this was evident from the fact that every time the association held classes at the Titiwangsa Lake Garden, many youngsters showed their enthusiasm in taking up the sport.

“If the talent can be honed, they have the potential of becoming professional sports canoeing athletes at the national and even the international level,” he told reporters after the launching ceremony of the Kuala Lumpur
Canoeing Invitation Championship here, today.

The championship organised by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall saw participation of contestants from six countries, namely Thailand, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The championship which is being held at the Titiwangsa Lake Garden, will end on Sunday.- BERNAMA
