KOTA KINABALU: The state government would always give full support for any implementation of health, food technology and clean
environment-related campaigns in Sabah, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Yahya Hussin.
Yahya, who is also Sabah Agriculture and Food Industry Minister, said campaigns such as ‘To Earth With Love’ (TEWL) was founded by three non
governmental organisations (NGOs) in the state – Young Malaysians Movement (YMM) Sabah branch, Sabah Environmental Protection Association (SEPA) and Sabah Bank Employees Union (SBEU) that are among the best NGOs that could be emulated.
He said the 10-year TEWL campaign was a smart initiative in ensuring the state’s environment was clean and protected from pollution.
This year TEWL once again launched its second phase campaign in the form of a competition and themed ‘Sustainable Gardening’ that involved nine secondary schools here, he said.
“This is indeed a very encouraging way of education,” he said when speaking at the Sustainable Gardening Competition 2015 award presentation here today.
At the function, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Tun Fuad and Sekolah Menengah La Salle were named joint winners while runner up was Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Lok Yuk.-BERNAMA
