KOTA KINABALU – Bumiputera contractors need to be bold in venturing into new prospect such as agriculture technology, petroleum and gas, communication technology and multimedia.
Assistant Minister of Resource Development and Information Technology, Datuk Hamisa Samat said contractors need to be ready to compete in the challenging world of business especially in facing the current globalization.
Speaking during the Closing Ceremony of Piping Course organised by the her ministry, today, she said contractors need to take the risk in exploring new market.
“They need to be brave and take chances. They cannot depend only on the construction sector alone,” she said.
She also urged the Bumiputera contractors to equip themselves with technical specialisation and new skills so they can be at the same level as other contractors.
She said that continuous effort in striving to develop and priorities work are important especially when it comes to the performance and discipline of the contractors.
Hamisa who is also Tanjong Batu assemblywoman said the government is continuously providing opportunities to contractors.
“The government has given a lot of opportunities to the contractors especially to the Bumiputera contractors. The efforts from the government can be seen through the various plans of infrastructure development and projects,” she said. – SayangSabah
