MATUNGGONG: JKR is urged to immediately repair old bridges that are risky for road users in Matunggong constituency.

Its Assemblyperson, Dato’ Jelani Hamdan, said several wooden bridges  in his area are in poor condition and require immediate repair.

Citing the wooden bridges at Kg. Mogong, Kg. Pinawantal, and Kg. Angkob, he explained that they are badly damaged and pose risks to drivers.

“I will ask JKR to regularly inspect the condition of these bridges, especially old wooden bridges, and repair them.

“If ignored, these old bridges can be dangerous to road users who need to cross them,” he said.

Jelani also inspected the damaged bridge at Kg. Nangka, and hopes that JKR will be more attentive on the conditions of roads and bridges in Matunggong which he described as dismal for being old and mainly gravel.

“The people in Matunggong have the rights to enjoy basic facilities such as roads, bridges, and water supply; relevant departments should do their jobs with dedication and commitment,” he said. –SayangSabah
