JOHOR BAHARU: The body of one of two teenagers, feared drowned while swimming at Desaru beach at Bandar Penawar, near Kota Tinggi yesterday, was found today.
Bandar Penawar Fire and Rescue Department chief Mohd Fadli Ismail said the body of J. Moventhan, 15, was discovered at 10.40am about one kilometre from where the incident happened.
“The floating body was retrieved by the fire and rescue personnel about 150 metres from the beach,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Fadli said another victim N. Harishwaran, 15, had not been found yet by the search and rescue team involving firemen, policemen and members of the Civil Defence Department.
In the 11.30am incident on Saturday, Moventhan from Skudai and Harishwaran from Taman Bukit Indah had gone swimming with eight other friends before rain and strong winds hit the beach.
Their friends managed to swim to safety while the duo were last seen struggling to make it to the shore. – BERNAMA
