Body of drowned soldier expected home soon

KUALA LUMPUR:  The body of Capt Hasman Hussin, who died after the vehicle he was travelling in was swept away by flood waters in Missouri, the United States of America, is expected to arrive in Malaysia on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the Army Headquarters here, Capt Hasman’s remains were expected to be flown on a China Airlines flight on Jan 5 at about 12.20 am United States time (1.20 pm Malaysian time) and arrive on Jan 6 at 1.15 pm local time.

The aircraft will fly via Taipei and will transit for three hours, it said.

“However, the Office of the Defence Attache in Washington DC and the United States authorities were still looking for an alternative if there is a way of flying the remains and the accompanying officer earlier to Malaysia,” it said.

Capt Hasman’s remains arrived in New York at 5.30 am Malaysian time today after being flown on a commercial flight from the Lambert-St Louis International Airport, Missouri yesterday.
