TENOM: Rural Development Minister, Datuk Radin Malleh, hopes that the Chinese community in the district will give their support to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election.
He said the federal government is committed in fulfilling the community’s desire for education, as evident with the RM3 million allocation given to fund the construction of school buildings for SRK Chung Hwa and SM Tshung Tsin, following the visit of the former Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, to Tenom in February 2013.
“I am informed that the new school building for SRK Chung Hwa that costs up to RM2 million has been completed, while the construction for SM Tshung Tsin will begin soon,” he said after presenting contribution of tables and chairs to business owners at Pasar Tenom, recently.
The Melalap Assemblyperson also said the allocation proves the commitment of BN government in fulfilling the need of all communities regardless of their ethnicity in the state, especially for education facilities that are required by the Chinese community in the district.
“However, despite the BN government’s commitment, it failed to garner support from the Chinese community in the district in the previous general election (GE13), where myself as BN candidate also lose by 232 votes at Tenom Utara and Tenom Selatan voting station because many of the voters chose DAP candidate due to being influenced by empty promises made by the opposition party,” he said. –SayangSabah
