The first prize winners will receive electronic gadgets worth RM1,500 and RM500 cash; the second prize winners, electronic gadgets worth RM1,000 and RM500 cash and the third prize winners, RM500 cash. The cash prizes are provided by the NPC.
The statement said the winners were selected from more than 130 entries submitted by writers aged between 18 and 30 from around the country.
It said this was the first competition of its kind held in Malaysia with the aim of raising awareness on today’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
ICRC and NPC hope that more young talented writers will participate in the competition in the future because it offered them an outlet to express their concerns about pressing humanitarian issues across the globe.
The competition, with the theme of ‘Respecting Life and Human Dignity’, was launched in June to mark the 156th anniversary of the Battle of Solferino, which led to the creation of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and international humanitarian law. – BERNAMA
