KOTA KINABALU: The State Government has taken a proactive step to ban both Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar and Batu MP Tian Chua from entering Sabah.
Former Deputy Chief Minister cum Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Peter Pang En Yin said the ban took effect after the Sabah State Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a special motion tabled by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Raymond Tan Shu Kiah and seconded by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman.
“Sabahans in the east coast are living in fear from the threats of kidnapping and violence carried out by certain groups from the neighbouring islands which is the same offshoot that intruded the sovereignty of our State and country not so long ago,” said Peter.
“As a Sandakan resident, I am appalled to see some Malaysian parliamentarians willing to take advantage to meet a so-called Sulu princess, not to promote peace in the region but to lobby for personal agendas,” said Peter, adding that such parliamentarians had ignored the sensitivities of Sabahans.
“As the ex-assemblyman for Karamunting, I am sad to see many famous seafood restaurants and businesses in this area either closed down or moved for fear of kidnapping because customers are avoiding these places particularly during the night which is the golden hours for the food industry,” he said.-Sayangsabah
