KENINGAU: Invoking racial and religious sentiments should be prevented as such action can divide the society.

Pensiangan UMNO Chief, Datuk Abdul Ghani Datuk Yassin, said a divided community weakens unity and thus making the country susceptible to enemy’s control.

According to the Islamic perspective, he said unity is made through strong ties between members of society, as well as for the Muslims.

“This means unity can be explained through two dimensions. The first is the external which apparent in communal understanding, the strengthening of national socio politic for the common good,” he said when launching the Sook level Maulidur Rasul celebration at SK Sook, in Saturday.

He also said unity in its basis is internal for each individual that is expressed through spiritual and emotional understanding, and unity in Islam is not only for the good relations between Muslims alone, since it also applicable for non-Muslims.

“Understanding unity through both dimensions can produce cooperation and understanding among our communities today,” he said. -SayangSabah
