KOTA KINABALU: An attempt to smuggle Methamphetamine drug to Sabah has been foiled when he was arrested by Malaysia Royal Customs Department personnel at Second Terminal of Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), recently.
Its director, Datuk Janathan Kandok, said the suspect who is in his twenties was detained for acting suspicious when he arrived from Peninsular Malaysia, at 10.00am on Friday.
“Further investigation by the Customs personnels has discovered the suspect was hiding Methamphetamine drug or Syabu weighing 2.021 kilogrammes in his bag, with an estimated worth of RM383,990,” he said in a press statement in Wisma Kastam, here today.
The suspect wasthen sent to police Narcotic Branch for investigation under Section 39B(1) Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 with the punishment of death by hanging, if found guilty, he added.
Meanwhile, he also wants the public to give cooperation during inspections by Customs Department personnels at the airport.
The public must not getting involved with drug trafficking activities to avoid heavy punishment, he said.
