KOTA KINABALU: About 1,000 athletes, including officers from state economic development corporations (SEDC) are expected to join the four-day Combined Bumiputera Trust Agencies and Public Enterprises Games
(Gemaputera) 2016 here, beginning March 23.
Sabah Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO) group general manager Pengiran Saifuddin Pg Tahir said the group was ready to host Gemaputera Games which would see 13 SEDCs nationwide and UDA Holding Berhad competing in the meet.
“Preparation for the 14th edition of the games is now in the final phase,” he said in a statement here today.
He said the seven types of sports in competition were futsal, bowling, carrom, golf, netball, dart and pool.
“Besides promoting unity, discipline and cooperation between SEDCs and the finance ministry, the sports event will also create greater health awareness among SEDC employees.”
This is the second time Sabah is hosting the games after the 2002 edition.- BERNAMA
