KOTA KINABALU: Beginning this year, Petronas will expand its Vocational Institution Training Assistance Programme (Vista) in Sabah by providing more education sponsorship for trainees from impoverished families.
Petronas Malaysia Upstream Senior Vice President, Datuk M. Anuar Taib, said the move is in line with the government’s effort to ensure the young generation in Sabah are be able to continue their academic pursuit and improve the nation’s human resource quality.
According to him, Petronas is also supporting six vocational institutions in Sabah which includes Kota Kinabalu MARA Skills Institute, Kota Kinabalu Industrial Training Institute, Sabah Foundation College, Papar Technical and Commerce Training Institute (ILTP), Kimanis Giatmara Centre, and Kinarut National Youth Skill Training Institute (IKBN).
Únder the programme, these vocational institutions will receive assistance in the form of machineries and technical equipments, materials, selected trainings and courses for educators, as well as technical and advisory services,” he said.
He was giving his speech during the Petronas Education Sponsorship Awards which was officiated by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, representing the Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
In the event, about 214 students from secondary schools and public institutions receive the education sponsorship awards from Petronas. – SayangSabah
