KUALA TERENGGANU: A Cambodian man who refused to come down after climbing and spending three days perched on a 45m-high Cengal tree in Kampung Sungai Pinang here was arrested last night.
Kuala Terengganu Police chief ACP Idris Abd Rafar said the man, in his 30s, climbed down the tree on his own at 8.30 pm and was arrested immediately for further investigation.
The man, who did not have any valid travel documents, was also tested positive for drugs, he said.
“The man is currently held at the Kuala Terengganu Police headquarters lockup here for further investigation under Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and Immigration Act,” he told Bernama.
Idris also refuted the allegation that the man had scaled the tree with the intention to commit suicide, saying that it was believed that the man did so as he was under the influence of drug. – BERNAMA
