KOTA KINABALU: The public are urged to understand and practice the value of ‘Saya Sayang Bapa Saya’ as a way to appreciate the sacrifices made by fathers to their families.
“To those who have a father, show your appreciation by saying ‘Saya Sayang Bapa Saya’ for all their sacrifices in sustaining the family,” said the state Minister of Community Development and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Jainab Ahmad Ayid.
She was giving her speech for officiating the state-level Father’s Day celebration held at Ibnu Batutta Mosque, TLDM Base, Sepanggar.
She said the celebration’s theme has been selected as to encourage the community to make family as the main factor for happiness.
“Close relations between family members will cultivate happiness, she said, adding that ‘love’ should be expressed as a continuous commitment.
In the event, she also receive donations from the Commander of Naval Region 2 of the Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM), Rear Admiral Datuk Khairul Anuar Yahya, to be channeled to the earthquake disaster fund.
Various activities and competitions were held at the celebration with the collaboration of LPPKN, Women, Family, and Community Development Council (MPWK), Sabah UTC Senior Citizen Activity Centre, and TLDM Base, in conjunction with the 2015 Keluarga Bahagia Tour Programme.
Among the activities held were Family Race, LPPKN [email protected] Service exhibition, and family seminar by Ustaz Mohd Syahir Ismail, with the breaking of fast ceremony and prize presentation as its finale.
Also present at the event were Sabah LPPKN Director, Puan Nurfarhana Lee Mohd Zulkiflee, and its invited guests. – SayangSabah
