KOTA KINABALU: All sports associations must submit in their annual reports and accounts to the Ministry of Youth and Sports on time to comply with the requirements set by the Sports Commissioner annual general meeting.
The Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Datuk Suzannah Liaw made the call when receiving a courtesy call from Sabah Tennis Association (STA) president Johnson Koh at her office in Wisma Muis yesterday.
The STA has been praised for submitting in their reports and accounts early and she hoped other sports associations would also do the same.
During the meeting, Johnson briefed Suzannah on the Sabah tennis junior tour tournaments which started in Sandakan last week before moving on to Tawau and Kota Kinabalu.
The tour will end with the finale masters to be held in Kota Kinabalu where 12 top juniors will compete for the grand champion.
“This effort will produce a big base of players for the state in coming years,” said Johnson.
Suzannah advised STA to make sure other districts also actively involved in the tennis tournaments so that more raw talent could be unearth.
He said STA will be organising three major tournaments this year namely State inter affiliates tournament, the Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor 1Malaysia tennis invitation tournament and the Asia Tennis Federation 14 years tournament at Asia level.
Johnson presented a souvenir to Suzannah which is a framed news report highlighting the achievement of STA for 2014 and the success of the national tennis team head by STA on winning the Jeju Tennis International team event in Korea last year.-Sayangsabah
