PUTRAJAYA: Dato’ Sri Anifah Hj Aman, Minister of Foreign Affairs met with his Australian counterpart, the Honourable Julie Bishop, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia on 2 November 2015 for a bilateral meeting. The meeting was held at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices in
Melbourne, Australia during YB Minister of Foreign Affairs’ working visit to Melbourne on 1 – 4 November 2015.
The main objective of their meeting was to exchange views on issues of common interest to Malaysia and Australia.
During the meeting, the Ministers also exchanged views on enhancing bilateral relations including the forthcoming visit of the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull, the new Prime Minister of Australia to Malaysia in conjunction with the forthcoming ASEAN Summit and the East Asia Summit that would be hosted by Malaysia under the Chairmanship of YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia as the ASEAN Chair in Kuala Lumpur in November 2015.
Both Foreign Ministers also had an exchange of views on issues of common concern such as the threat of the Islamic State (IS), illegal migration, MH17 and other issues and possible avenues for cooperation between the two countries. During the discussion on MH17 issue, YB Minister of Foreign Affairs reaffirms once again Malaysia’s commitment towards bringing the perpetrators of MH17 to justice.-BERNAMA
