KOTA KINABALU: Most passengers of low-cost carrier AirAsia are happy the airline’s operation relocation from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) which officially started today.
Bernama spoke to several passengers who arrived at Terminal 1 which is also the airport’s main terminal via flight AK5108 from Kuala Lumpur (KL) and AK6261 from Tawau earlier yesterday.
Salmi Hana, 38, a frequent business traveller from KL, said she experienced no difficulties with her first KL-Kota Kinabalu (KK) AirAsia flight at the
terminal’s arrival hall two.
“The operations are better organised here with clearer directions for passengers to navigate their way around the airport compared to Terminal 2. I am happy with the new terminal,” she said.
Ahirunisham Ahmad, 39, of Kota Kinabalu who arrived from KL, said he found operations at the terminal a bit ‘hectic’ due to the combined
operations of some nine different airlines at the airport.
“Overall operations are much better although the crowd is bigger and there is a longer queue at the immigration counters, otherwise I am happy with the relocation,” said the businessman.
Housewife Doris Aduan,30, who flew in from KL with her 11-year-old daughter said she was very pleased with AirAsia’s move to relocate to KKIA.
The local from KK said the airport offered convenient facilities and most importantly the distance it took to walk from landing up until the arrival
terminal was only “a short distance”.
Jennyvie George, a 26-year-old drafter from Ranau who arrived from Tawau at the terminal’s arrival hall three, said the airport is well-organised with
proper signages to help passengers find their way in the building.
She said although passenger traffic is higher at the terminal nevertheless the airport is much more spacious compared to Terminal 2 which was congested.- BERNAMA
