KOTA KINABALU: The Aidilfitri celebration can further strengthen the spirit of brotherhood among Muslims and all strata of society in the country, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman.
He said the spirit of brotherhood and unity could be enhanced through the practice of ‘open house’ visiting.
“Hence this Hari Raya Aidilfitri, let us forgive one another not only among our family but also among relatives and friends,” he said in his Aidilfitri message.
He said even though Sabah was blessed with all kinds of culture and belief, the people could live in peace and harmony in mutual respect to enable the state to have a rapid pace of development.
“However, lately there are some parties that are inclinded to harp on certain issues to jeopardise the state’s peace and harmony,” he said, adding that the people should unite by not allowing anyone to destroy them through their agenda.
Musa expressed gratitude that Sabah could now record continual growth through the implementatation of various programmes to raise the people’s economy statewide.
He also urged the civil servants in the state to continue supporting and be the backbone of government planning and programmes, including the 11th Malaysia Plan.
Efforts to increase infrastructure, reduce poverty rate and ensure the people had access to the best education to produce skilled and experienced workers would also be continued.
Touching on security issues, Musa said the government understood the feelings and concern of the people, and assured that the state and federal governments were working closely to enhance the security aspect, especially in Sabah’s east coast.
On the earthquake tragedy last June 5 that killed 18 people, including foreigners, Musa expressed his condolences to the families that lost their loved ones.
The state government would constantly monitor the situation besides focusing on repairing the affected areas and restoring the tourism sector, he said.- BERNAMA
