ALOR SETAR: Bakar Bata Assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah was today sworn-in as Kedah Menteri Besar at Istana Anak Bukit here.
Ahmad Bashah, 66, who is the 12th Menteri Besar of Kedah, took his oath before the Kedah Council of Regency, which is chaired by Tan Sri Tunku
Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah.
The council members present were Tan Sri Tunku Hamid Thani Sultan Badlishah and Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.
Also present were assemblymen and members of parliament in Kedah, as well as senior state government officers.
Yesterday, Kedah State Secretary Datuk Bakar Din named Ahmad Bashah as the new menteri besar of Kedah to take over from Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir.
The announcement was made soon after Mukhriz announced his resignation as the menteri besar with immediate effect after losing the support of the majority of his state assemblymen.- BERNAMA
