KOTA KINABALU: Advancement in information technology is one of the challenges in preserving the integrity of government official information which are becoming more complex, said the Minister of Resource Development and IT Technology, Datuk Siringan Gubat.
“Some of them, including mobile phones, can be used to take pictures and videos, after which the information can be spread anywhere using communication medium.
“In a short time, this information can enter the cyber space and public domain and being exploited for whatever purpose, intention, and for the interests of certain group.
“Today, information is at the tip of our finger, and with one click we can get or share them instantly,” he said during officiating the state level ICT Seminar at Tun Datu Mustapha Auditorium, at Kampus Intan Sabah, Jalan Sulaman.
The seminar, themed ‘Preserving Government Information Integrity in Today’s Environment’, was also attended by INTAN Kampus Sabah Regional Director, Jamaluddin Mohd Ali, and its participants.
Siringan said the effort to control and contain the threat of information leakage is more difficult due to the exploit of information technology by irresponsible quarters.
He hopes that government servants will ensure the safety and integrity of official government information is not threatened by manipulation and leakage by irresponsible group which will affect the safety and peace of the country. –SayangSabah
