KOTA KINABALU: Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry does not receive any report regarding on food supplies shortages for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Its Minister, Datuk Yahya Hussin, said supplies for various food products by local producers are not affected by the earthquake and flash floods disasters at Kg. Mesilou, Kundasang Ranau.
“We have enough food stocks for the next three months,” he said when met by the media at the Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme for employees of Sabah Veterinarian Service and Livestock Industry Department at Wisma Pertanian.
However, he admits that some agriculture developers incurred deficit in profit due to the natural disasters.
“Currently, mushroom plantings carried out by Rural Development Cooperative (KPD) experienced loss in revenues due to unable to provide its service to farmers after the road networks have been damaged (by the disaster), “ he said.
He added that related departments and agencies are monitoring and assessing the worth of damages sustained by farmers in the affected areas caused by the natural disasters. – SayangSabah
