KOTA KINABALU: KadazanDusun Murut Sabah Welfare and Education Association (PEKADIN) calls for the Education Ministry to give the graduates of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) with a minor in the KadazanDusn language the opportunity to be taken as teachers for the subject at schools in the state.
PEKADIN Vice President, Nailin Gabintal, said many UPSI graduates with KadazanDusun language minor are yet to be called for interview despite the vacancy for the teaching position.
“There are also schools that have replaced the KadazanDusun language class with other language due to the lack of teachers to teach the subject.
“UPSI graduates with a minor in KadazanDusun language should be given the chance to be interviewed for the teaching position in schools. PEKADIN believe that a trained UPSI graduates can help in teaching the subject in Sabah if given the opportunity,” he said.
He was commenting on the suggestion from the KadazanDusun Language Alumni for graduates with a minor in KadazanDusun language to be absorbed as teachers.
UPSI BKD Minor Alumni representative, Klokson Majumba, quoted as saying the move is important since some of the university’s graduates with KadazanDusun language certificate are yet to be employed. – SayangSabah
